Balsamic Vinegar Dipping sauce (+ some History)

It takes much effort and a lot of passion to produce the perfect balsamic vinegar. You will need only a few drops from this ‘balm of pleasure’ to make the dish super delicious! However, the production process lasts many years until the simple grape juice turns into “black gold”.

Back in Ancient times people have used the magical liquid not only as a preservative, but also as medicine, cosmetics and even beverage. Do we all know how many wonderful characteristics balsamic vinegar has?! If you’re interested, read our previous blog post about its amazing health benefits.

So, let’s get back to history! It’s known that the first documental proof for balsamic vinegar’s appearance dates from the 11th century. During the 17th century it’s become popular only among the rich people. Luckily, with time the black gold starts to be more and more accessible for everybody.

Today balsamic vinegar is very much appreciated and because of that its production is always under strict control (just like wine!). For that very reason the origin and quality are secured by law, so there’s no need to worry about what you get!

Here’s a super easy recipe for a tasty balsamic vinegar bread dip:

½ cup high-quality olive oil

2tbsp dried oregano

¼ grated cheese

¼ cup balsamic vinegar

4 garlic cloves

Salt, black pepper

Crunchy bread

Warm (medium to low heat) the olive oil in a frying pan. Then add the sliced garlic and stir until well combined. Pour the sauce in a bowl and sprinkle with oregano, cheese, balsamic vinegar and the seasonings. Serve with hot crunchy bread and enjoy. Simple as that!
